Inter-house Drama Competition - 8 dramas that spellbound the kids

An inter-house drama competition was organised on the 1st and 2nd of January 2015 for kids of classes 4,5,6 and 7. Announced a month ago, the kids and the supervising teacher directors left no stone unturned in producing some of the finest dramas seen in the school. Kudos to all of them. (See below for brief story lines on each drama)

Drama 1: The Ruby Returned
A rice merchant and a gemstone trader are close friends. The gemstone trader once entrusts a precious ruby to the rice merchant's safekeeping and goes on a tour. On coming back, the rice merchant claims to have given back the ruby. Aghast, the gem trader pulls his friend to the court. It is now up to the judge to decide the case.

Drama 2: Sweet Home
A modern drama that seeks to admonish humans who have grown narrow minded and work all their lives to buy or build the house they can call home. All the while they conveniently forget that the whole planet is their home and are mindlessly destroying the only place we can truly call home in the vast universe.

Drama 3: A Girl called Manu
A life story of Jhansi Rani Laxmi Bai and how her uprising proved to be a central to the 1857 War of Independence that sought to throw out the yoke of British rule.

Drama 4: The Tree
A science fiction drama that is based several year in the future. Earth has been stripped barren, converted into a desert and abandoned by most humans who now live in space stations across the solar system. A strange program mentioning trees, fruits and leaves captures the interest of children in Pentoid space station who return to the Earth to seek out these things called trees. However they are disappointed. It is then they meet some kids from earth who mention of space station Octoid where an environmentalist stays. Do they find what they seek on Octoid? Is there hope for mankind?

Drama 5: A play that went wrong
A modern drama where primary school kids who stay in a hostel plan to put up a drama for the Boarders day. What follows when they decide to enact a scene from the Ramayan is bundle load of fun frolic and hilariousness.

Drama 6: The King's greatest prize
A farmer and his smart daughter Daksha are among the poor lot in a kingdom. However the King learns of Daksha's uncanny wisdom and invites her to the court. A maha punditji challenges the king to a puzzle. How Daksha solves the puzzle and saves the king from shame and what she claims as her prize form the story.

Drama 7: Litter Bugs
A musical drama with a strong environmental message. It has elements of kids unknowingly through their reckless actions damaging the nature. What follows is a backlash from nature and the park's caretaker resulting in the kids learning their lesson.

Drama 8: Tenali meets Babur
Tenali, the jester in King Krishnadevaraya's court, had wit and wisdom so famous that word falls on the Mughal Emperor Babur's ears. He sends for him. Babur instructs his courtiers not to laugh at any of Tenali's pranks or witty utterings. This he supposes will insult Tenali. However Tenali on discovering Babur's intentions, enacts a scene so well in disguise that Babur too concedes defeat and showers wholesome praises on Tenali,

Swamy Aiyappa Festival Harihar 2014

Organisers of Swamy Aiyappa Festival at Harihar had invited schools across Harihar and Kumarapatnam to put up a dance item showcasing any episode of Bhakti. We put up an item on Krishna Rasa Leela choreographed on the song "Radha Kaise Na Jale". Our school bagged the first prize.
