The 4th and 5th standard kids were all gung-ho about going to the circus. The school bus took them to the Jumbo circus in time for the Matinee show. Excited kids entered the huge tent that was erected by the Jumbo circus group near Ranebennur, chattering away incessantly.
At 1:00 PM sharp, the circus band started the show with a drumming music that pepped the audience into rapt attention. The children eagerly looked towards the center stage anticipating something. The show had begun... The trapeze artists came first swinging across from one end of the tent to the other. Their act was marvelous and spell binding. All the kids held their breath as the show progressed. Then came a performance of African acrobatics. Some ladies performed fine balancing acts on a turning table. The dogs and macaws followed with their simple but interesting acts. Then came a lady who walked on the tight rope and also kept balancing cups and saucers on her head. Another lady bounced a ball up a long pole and pushed it finally into a basket at the top. Elephants played cricket, performed pooja, camels displayed tricks, Two stuntman on bikes performed dare devil acts of riding at high speed within a metal cage. Two ladies stood out with their performance with hoops and on the bicycle. In the midst all this were a couple of jokers who had the audience laughing in between performances. The children were dumbfounded. Astonishment on their faces, the children were wondering how all of this is possible. In the backdrop of colorful dresses, loud and rhythmic music and wonderful performances, only one word came out from all of us, "WOW !!" All of us enjoyed the show with kids who came could not stop talking about it all the way back home. Rajeshwari |
